Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, whether Fit for Flight PCR tests can return a positive covid-19 test result for a person who has recently recovered from covid-19 and thus preventing travel; and what steps should be taken by the traveller in those circumstances.

It is possible for polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests to remain positive for some time after the period of active COVID-19 infection. Those who test positive through a PCR test must self-isolate and follow the guidance at the following link:
