Since April 2013, NHS England has been responsible for the commissioning of primary medical services in England.

NHS England made a full assessment of the likely impact of the reductions to the Minimum Practice Income Guarantee (MPIG) at practice level. The assessment included the size of the GP practices’ patient lists, the proportion of their funding affected and the overall level of MPIG funding they had been allocated and showed that there is no correlation between receipt of MPIG and size of practice. All sizes of practice receive MPIG.
