(asked on 9th June 2026) - View Source

Question to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs:

To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, what discussions she has had with her Indian counterpart on that country changing its laws relating to importing end-of-life tyres for pyrolysis; and if she will make an assessment of the potential impact of that change on the policy of enhanced verification of Annex VII documents for tyres exported from the UK.

Government is engaging with the Indian authorities, including the Indian Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, to confirm their legal position on the regulatory controls that apply for the import of end-of-life tyres to India. We continue to work with our Indian counterparts to ensure that waste, including end of life tyres, is recovered and recycled in compliance with the relevant regulations.
