There are no current no plans to commission an audit of continence care for the young or elderly. However, the recognition that there is a need for nationwide improvements in continence care has led to the Excellence in Continence Care Programme, which is aligned with the national Compassion in Practice Strategy.

NHS England is leading a national programme of work, the aim of which is to improve commissioning of continence care services. The national Excellence in Continence Care Programme Board is chaired by Sarah Elliott, Chief Nurse NHS England (South) and reports to the national Long Term Conditions Programme Board.
