We want our future relationship with the EU to be a deep and special partnership, taking in both economic and security cooperation and, in our Article 50 notification letter, we stressed that the UK will continue to share European values and security interests with our EU partners after we leave.

We are confident that the EU will have no reason to impose economic sanctions, or any other sanctions, on the UK after we leave the EU. On the contrary, the UK and EU will continue to have a shared interest in using economic sanctions to tackle common threats such as terrorism.
