Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:
To ask the Secretary of State for Health, how many patients were admitted to hospital from a care home as an emergency admission in each of the last seven years.
This question was answered on 26th April 2017
The attached table shows counts of finished admission episodes with an emergency admission from a care home from 2009-10 to 2015-16. It is likely that the ‘emergency admissions from care homes’ total figures are incomplete and therefore significantly understated because some relevant admissions may have been coded under ‘usual place of residence’.
