Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health, if he will take steps to ensure that clinical commissioning groups do not decommission IVF services without formal public consultation.

Principles for service change are enshrined in the four reconfiguration tests set down to the National Health Service in 2010, and which all local reconfiguration plans should demonstrate:

- Support from commissioners;

- Strong public and patient engagement;

- Clear clinical evidence base; and

- Support for patient choice.

There are no plans to introduce any additional duties in respect of fertility services.
