Ministers make decisions on police funding to benefit policing as a whole. The Government is maintaining the planning assumption we provided to Police & Crime Commissioners and helping them ensure stable funding.

Every Police & Crime Commissioner who maximises their local precept income this year and in 2017/18 will receive at least the same direct resource funding in cash that they received in 2015/16.

The Government is determined to support the police to become more efficient, and transform to tackle new types of crime and protect the vulnerable. That is why the 2017/18 police funding settlement substantially increases the size of the police transformation fund by over £40m to £175m.
