To ask the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, what was responsible for the drop in frequency in the electricity grid at 16:00 on 2 May 2026.

The drop in frequency in the electricity grid on 2 May 2026 was caused by a combination of factors, including a rapid increase in demand coinciding with a net interconnector reduction. Frequency remained within statutory limits at all times.
