Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:
To ask the Secretary of State for Health, what estimate he has made of the proportion of NHS trusts which were in financial deficit in each of the last six years; and if he will make a statement.

The number of trusts that have reported the year-end financial deficit over the last six years is summarised in the table below:
