Question to the Home Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what assessment she has made of the systems for measuring levels of illegal immigration in other countries; and whether such systems could be applied to the UK; and if she will make a statement.

The Home Office published a report as part of the European Migration Network work programme entitled ‘Practical Measures for Reducing Irregular Migration’ (Toms and Thorpe, 2012) which discusses the various measures available to estimate illegal migration in the UK.
