The Faster Diagnosis Standard was introduced in April 2020 with an initial performance threshold of 75% as services recover from the pandemic. NHS England keeps this threshold under review. The ‘Delivery plan for tackling the COVID-19 backlog of elective care’ states that NHS England aims to achieve the 75% Faster Diagnosis Standard nationally by March 2024.
