Question to the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy:

To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, with reference to the UK hydrogen strategy, published on 17 August 2021, when he plans publish the consultation on hydrogen-ready boilers; for what reason that consultation was not published by the end of 2021 as set out in the UK hydrogen strategy; and if he will make a statement.

The Government will publish in due course a consultation on the case for enabling or requiring new domestic gas boilers to be hydrogen-ready from 2026. This consultation has been informed by the Government-funded Hy4Heat R&D programme, the final report for which was published in April 2022.
