Question to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government:

To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, what assessment she has made of the adequacy of borrowing flexibilities available to local development corporations for infrastructure delivery.

As the number of development corporations grows, it is sensible to consider whether the legislative framework should evolve too. We are listening carefully to local leaders and will consider any changes needed to support faster delivery. This includes the borrowing flexibilities available to local development corporations for infrastructure delivery. Locally-led development corporations must ensure that borrowing is prudent, affordable and sustainable, including that interest costs can be managed, under the oversight of the local authority.
