NHS England is leading work on the Unified Information Standard for Protected Characteristics. This is a wide-ranging review of how the National Health Service records data in relation to protected characteristics across its workforce, in patient datasets and in associated surveys. As part of this programme, NHS England is exploring detailed disability recording to identify blind or partially sighted people.
