Question to the Department for Energy Security & Net Zero:
To ask the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, what discussions she has had with the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, on the potential health impacts of emissions linked to a potential decision for allowing drilling at (a) Rosebank oil and (b) Jackdaw gas fields.
In accordance with strict propriety rules, the recent decision on the Jackdaw project was made by the Energy Secretary alone with no involvement from other Ministers. When reaching the decision, the Energy Secretary concluded that the project would not prevent the UK from meeting legally binding limits on carbon emissions. The reasons for the decision have been published on GOV.UK.
The Rosebank field decision is going through the regulatory process, and the same propriety rules apply. Given the quasi-judicial nature of the regulatory process, it would be inappropriate for me to comment further on the Rosebank project.
