Question to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government:

To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, pursuant to the Answer of 4 September 2026 to Question 20300 on Political Parties: Finance, whether her Department will consult (a) political parties and (b) the Electoral Commission on the treatment of crypto to fiat currency donations.

The Government recognises the risks posed by donations funded using converted crypto assets. We are considering what further protections could be put in place to guard against converted crypto assets being used to funnel impermissible funds into the political finance system. As part of this work, we are continuing to engage with the Electoral Commission and other relevant stakeholders, inducing political parties, as appropriate.
