To ask the Right hon. Member for Kenilworth and Southam, representing the Speaker's Committee on the Electoral Commission, with reference to the Electoral Commission publication, How different levels of donation caps could affect political parties: sensitivity analysis, of 3 July 2026, whether the Electoral Commission undertook this research (a) at the request of HM Government or (b) of its own initiative.

The Commission undertook this research independently and of its own initiative following public debate about donation caps. It published the research to support debate during passage of the Representation of the People Bill. It was not requested by any third party.
