To ask the Right hon. Member for Kenilworth and Southam, representing the Speaker's Committee on the Electoral Commission, with reference to the advertisement posted on the Civil Service Jobs website by the Electoral Commission for a Senior Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Officer, Ref: 444420, and the written statement of 14 May 2024, HCWS464, on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in the Civil Service, what consideration the Electoral Commission gave to the recommended Civil Service policy on standalone EDI roles.

As an independent body accountable to Parliament, the Commission is not bound by the EDI civil service policy, but it does consider civil service policies to ensure it is working to best practice. The Commission's Equality, Diversity and Inclusion team implements our EDI strategy, which informs the Commission's work to remove barriers to voter participation.
