To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, what assessment her Department has made of the potential impact on the viability of upland livestock farms of requiring consent under the Environmental Impact Assessment (Agriculture) (England) (No. 2) Regulations 2006 for reseeding and liming of grassland in National Parks.

The agricultural EIA regulations are primarily intended to protect uncultivated and semi-natural land, including priority habitats, from agricultural intensification. The performance and impact of the regulations were most recently examined in the 2023 Post Implementation Review where the Ag EIA was found to have met their objectives in part and have had a generally positive effect overall when triggered.
