People from Myanmar will be able to make an application to extend their stay in the UK where they are on a route which allows for extension, subject to continuing to meet the relevant criteria for the route and paying any associated fees.

The Home Office does not have plans to create a visa specifically for Myanmar nationals currently living in the UK.

Those whose leave is expiring and cannot be extended can, where they have a genuine and well-founded fear of persecution if returned to Myanmar, make a claim for asylum.
