Question to the Department for Transport:
To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what steps she is taking to ensure that the Port of London Authority takes account of the historical significance of nationally important vessels when making decisions affecting their future.
The department has not discussed HMS President with the Port of London Authority. In general, the department does not discuss heritage matters with the PLA, unless there is a need from the PLA for the department to act on its behalf. The PLA is a trust port and as such does not consult the department on its day-to-day operational decisions.
