We want to see greater choice in end of life care so that people are able to be cared for and die in the place they choose and receive care which is appropriate for their needs, whether that is in a hospice, a hospital or their own home.

An independently led review of choice in end of life care published its advice in February 2015. The review is available online at:

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/choice-in-end-of-life-care

We agree with the review’s vision of enabling greater choice at the end of life and are working with NHS England to see how this can best be achieved. The Government’s full response to the review will set out our position on this issue later in the year.
