Question to the Department for Transport:
To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what guidance her Department provides to train operating companies on maintaining the availability of lower-priced Advance fares on peak commuter services.
Advance fares are not regulated by the Government and their availability is a commercial decision for train operators. They are priced according to demand for a particular service and vary by route, date and time of travel, and time of booking.
Decisions on the number, price and availability of Advance fares on individual services, including peak commuter services, remain matters for the relevant operator.
