Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what steps his Department is taking to ensure that university students have access to a GP outside of term time.

In the event that students cannot access their usual university general practitioner (GP) outside of term time then they can receive care by registering as a temporary resident elsewhere.

Guidance has recently been issued by NHS England for GP practices on registering temporary residents. This is part of the 2019/20 guidance and audit requirements for the General Medical Services contract, and can be viewed at the following link:
