Question to the Department for Education:

To ask the Secretary of State for Education, what steps the Government is taking to encourage universities to divest from global coal, oil and gas companies.

Universities are autonomous from the government, so we do not specifically encourage them to divest from global coal, oil and gas companies.

The government is committed to supporting the effective management of climate-related financial risks, and we have endorsed the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures.
