Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what assessment her Department has made of the effectiveness of the Patient Reported Experience Measure in Maternity and Neonatal services for capturing the experiences of bereaved families who have (a) experienced pregnancy and (b) baby loss.

The Maternity and Neonatal Taskforce will develop a national action plan that will reform maternity and neonatal services to deliver lasting change for women, families, and their babies. The taskforce will consider all aspects of those current services, including pregnancy and baby loss, and patient experience.

The Patient Reported Experience Measure (PREM) tool for maternity and neonatal services will include families who have experienced pregnancy loss and the death of a baby.

Work is planned with bereaved families and service users who have experienced loss to determine how feedback gathered through the PREM in maternity and neonatal services can appropriately reflect their experiences.
