Mobile Phones: Austria

Question to the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport:
To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, if he will make an assessment of the effect on price and quality of service for consumers of the reduction of mobile network operators in Austria from four to three.

There are no plans for a separate assessment of the consequences of the Austrian mobile market consolidation in 2012. DCMS officials, working with BIS colleagues in Competition Policy, continue to monitor the results of the EU remedies imposed when the deal was sanctioned. Competition authorities will look at all relevant evidence when considering any future mergers that affect the UK market.
