Ministers have obtained advice from the Prescribed Specialised Services Advisory Group (PSSAG), a Department of Health expert committee, on the proposal to transfer commissioning responsibility for renal dialysis services. Ministers have also consulted with NHS England. The Department ran a six week public consultation on the timing and logistics of the proposed transfer, which received responses from a wide range of individuals and organisations, including patients, clinical commissioning groups, clinicians, National Health Service trusts, charities, and trade organisations.

Ministers have now referred the proposal back to PSSAG for reconsideration taking account of corrected evidence.
