Sixth Form Colleges: VAT

Question to the Department for Education:
To ask the Secretary of State for Education, what her policy is on extending the VAT refund scheme used by other schools to sixth form colleges.
This question was answered on 26th February 2015
The Department for Education’s position on funding for sixth form colleges, and also for further education colleges, is that while the arguments for removing the sector’s liability for VAT are understood, it is not affordable to do this in financial years 2014-15 or 2015-16.
