Question to the Department for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities:

To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, pursuant to the Answer of 11 February 2019 to Question 217589 on Buildings: Insulation and with reference to the interim report of the Building Research Establishment for his Department entitled Fire Performance of Cladding Materials Research – Experimental methodology and performance criteria, if he will consider criteria for mechanical failure in any future large-scale tests his Department commissions.

As set out in table 1 of the interim report, mechanical failure will form part of the experimental assessment. Observation and reporting of mechanical failure is also required under the BS 8414 large scale methodology.
