Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:
To ask the Secretary of State for Health, what estimate he has made of the cost to the NHS of alcohol-related harm in each of the last 10 years.
Estimates have been made of the cost to the National Health Service of alcohol related harm at around £2.7 billion per year in 2006-07 and £3.5 billion per year in 2009-10.
Work is ongoing to produce estimates for more recent years.
