Question to the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport:
To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, what estimate he has made of when free WiFi will be provided in all public libraries; how many and what proportion of libraries currently have free WiFi; and what information he holds on the average cost to libraries of providing free WiFi.
The DCMS has not made any estimate of when free Wi-Fi will be provided in all public libraries. Current desktop research indicates that up to 2000 public libraries (two-thirds) already have Wi-Fi. I refer the Hon. Member to the answer I gave on 14 January 2015 to PQ 220293.
