Question to the Department for Education:

To ask the Secretary of State for Education, what steps his Department is taking to increase the number of specialist teachers for deaf children.

I am determined that all children and young people, including those who are deaf or have a hearing impairment, receive the support they need to achieve the success they deserve.

I met with the National Deaf Children’s Society (NDCS) on 21 November to find out more about their concerns and officials are engaging directly with NDCS to better understand the issues raised regarding the number of teachers of the deaf.
