Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:
To ask the Secretary of State for Health, how many NHS patients were prescribed off-patent drugs outside their licensed indications in (a) 2013, (b) 2012 and (c) 2011.
This question was answered on 24th November 2014
It is not possible to determine if a drug is prescribed within its licensed indication as information on the condition for which a drug is prescribed by a clinician to his/her patient is not recorded.
