Question to the Department for Education:

To ask the Secretary of State for Education, how many maintained schools which were found to be inadequate since the introduction of the new inspection descriptors have remained as maintained schools; and how many such schools have been converted to academy status.

This is a matter for Ofsted. I have asked Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector, Sir Michael Wilshaw, to write to the Hon Member with the information requested. A copy of his reply will be placed in the House library.
