The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency estimates that abolishing the vehicle tax disc will save £13.8m each year by not having to produce, issue and post the discs to motorists.

An assessment carried out by Her Majesty’s Treasury concluded that removing the requirement to display a paper tax disc was not expected to have an impact on income from vehicle excise duty.
