Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health, what estimate he has made of the cost to the NHS of the illegal use of controlled substances in (a) England, (b) Yorkshire and Humber, (c) South Yorkshire and (d) Barnsley East constituency.

The data is not available in the format requested. However, the Home Office published report ‘The Economic and Social Costs of Class A Drug Use in England and Wales’ estimated the cost of class A drug use to the National Health Service in England to be £488 million per year.
