Question to the Department for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities:

To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, whether his Department has made an assessment of the future difficulties that may potentially arise from the ban on combustible cladding when buildings are subject to change of use, such as a non-residential building changing to a multi-occupancy dwelling.

My Department published an impact assessment alongside the Building (Amendment) Regulations 2018 which set out the ban on combustible materials in external walls. This includes an analysis of the impact of the regulations on changes of use. The impact assessment is available on-line at www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2018/1230/pdfs/uksiod_20181230_en.pdf.
