Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, what recent discussions he has had with the government of Bahrain about the detention of Maryam Al-Khawaja at Bahrain International Airport; and if he will make a statement.

We are aware of the arrest of Maryam Al-Khawaja last week. We are monitoring the case closely. The British Ambassador to Bahrain raised her case with the Bahraini authorities last week. We urge the Government of Bahrain to ensure that due legal process is fully respected and international norms of justice adhered to.
