The Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, my right hon. Friend the Member for Runnymede and Weybridge (Mr Hammond) has regular discussions with his international counterparts, including the US, on tackling the extremist threat in Syria. We agree that the war in Syria, and the threat posted by ISIL, can only ultimately be ended through a political agreement and a new transitional Government.
