Question to the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport:

To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, pursuant to the Answers of 4 June 2015 to Questions 618 and 619, which Minister in his Department has responsibility for its policy on introducing age-restriction controls for websites; and what assessment he has made of whether establishing an independent regulator will require primary legislation.

The Minister for Internet Safety and Security is the Minister responsible and is considering its approach to delivering this commitment, including the possibility of a regulatory regime. Should we choose a regulatory solution, then primary legislation would indeed be required.
