The New Homes Bonus was introduced in 2011/12 to provide an incentive for local authorities to encourage housing growth in their areas. Allocations for Southampton, the South East and England since 2011/12 are as follows:

Southampton - £24,484,850
South East - £1,057,643,786
England - £6,073,404,201
