Students are able to request a change of supplier from the Student Loans Company (SLC) through a standard procedure, provided they have first tried to access support from the recommended provider and found it unsuitable. Students who receive non-medical support prior to commencing their course can choose to continue receiving support from the same supplier if that supplier is registered with the Disabled Students Quality Assurance Group to provide support through Disabled Students' Allowances.

Students in dispute with the SLC over their support provider have access to the SLC’s complaints and appeals processes.
