Question to the Department for Work and Pensions:

To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, by how much her Department's projected spend on universal credit in the 2018-19 financial year has changed as a result of the reduction of the minimum waiting time for payment of claims from six weeks to five.

At the Spring Statement, the Office for Budget Responsibility forecast that DWP will spend £8bn on Universal Credit in 2018/19, this is in line with our expectations. This includes an increase of £130m, to account for the cost of abolishing waiting days.
