The UK is an active and influential member of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), where we seek to promote the safety, security and sustainability of international aviation. The UK is an elected member of the ICAO Council and works through the organisation and with other Council Members to deliver on the UK’s technical, political and organisational priorities.

The Secretary of State and I engage with our international counterparts from other ICAO member states on a regular basis, to build alliances and to find opportunities to deliver on shared interests. I have held meetings with senior ICAO leadership, including the Council President and led the UK Delegation in negotiations and re-election efforts at the ICAO Assembly in September 2025.
