Question to the Department for Education:

To ask the Secretary of State for Education, how many and what proportion of Modern Foreign Language teachers in Coventry since 2010 are still in teaching after (a) three, (b) four and (c) five years.

The Department recognises that there are differences in teacher recruitment and retention at a sub-national level and by subject. Information at local authority or regional level comparable to the national figures for 2016 and 2017 is not available. Information is available on the number of qualified teachers entering and leaving the profession by region for the years 2010 to 2015. Information on entrants and leavers rates for secondary school teachers by subject taught is available in the ‘Teachers analysis compendium: 2017’.
