Question to the Home Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what assessment her Department has made of the effect of recent trends in the level of decision making costs for migration applications on migration application fees.

Fees and the estimated unit cost for immigration and nationality applications are kept under review. When setting visa, immigration and citizenship fees, the Home Office takes into account a number of factors set by Section 68(9) of the Immigration Act 2014. The fees include the cost of processing the application, the wider cost of running the migration and borders system, international comparisons and the benefits that are likely to accrue from a successful application.
