Question to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs:
To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, how much of the £5.2 billion funding for flood defence measures announced in 2020 has been spent as of 31 January 2023; and which projects have been supported through that funding.
The Government announced in March 2020 that the amount invested in flood and coastal erosion schemes would be doubled in England to £5.2 billion.
By the end of March 2023, the Environment Agency currently estimates approximately £1.5 billion of this funding will have been invested. Official reporting of flood investment spend for 22/23 will follow.
