Question to the Department for Transport:

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, how many Network Rail staff work for their Infrastructure Projects division; what the annual expenditure of that organisation is; and what assessment he has made of the competitiveness of that organisation.

This question was answered on 24th April 2018

Currently, 5,400 people work in the Infrastructure Projects (IP) division. Last year, IP delivered £5.7bn of work nationally.

Network Rail has committed to increasing efficiency and contestability, driving transformational change both internally and across the rail industry. The Department is working with Network Rail to look at the end to end process for the delivery of infrastructure projects in order to better meet passenger and customer requirements.
